Tufin Technologies, the market-leading provider of Security Policy Management solutions, today announced SIX as the first Tufin customer to deploy its new product, SecureApp, in a production environment. SecureApp enables SIX to deploy applications faster, improve availability and become even more secure.

SIX operates Switzerland's financial market infrastructure and offers on a global scale comprehensive services in the areas of securities trading, clearing and settlement, as well as financial information and payment transactions.  SIX's business depends on hundreds of applications and business services with distributed architectures and fast changing network requirements, all of which generate a high volume of application-related firewall change requests.  SIX's network security team deployed the Tufin Security Suite to map firewall change processes to the application-centric needs of the business while ensuring that SIX's security policy would never be compromised.

"We have always highly appreciated Tufin's products, but SecureApp is a game-changer," said Christoph Littwin, Head of Telecommunications, SIX. "The majority of our firewall changes are application related. We knew we were spending too much time on tasks like application deployment and decommissioning, and wanted to manage application-related firewall changes from a business process perspective instead of hunting for connectivity data spread across our entire infrastructure. We found nothing on the market and even considered developing and implementing our own tool. When Tufin showed us SecureApp our requirements were almost identical, and we immediately moved forward. We are delighted with the product and think highly of Tufin's ongoing development of innovative solutions."

SIX's firewall change processes were quite complicated and required many resources, both in terms of personnel and time. Tasks such as application deployment, maintenance and decommissioning were time consuming and error prone.  In addition, SIX's firewall team was continuously being challenged by the ever-increasing risk of attacks and needed advanced tools to identify and mitigate the risks.

Tufin worked closely with SIX to gain a thorough understanding of its application connectivity needs. Together, they created a set of requirements, which evolved and grew as Tufin supplied updated versions of SecureApp, culminating in the official product release.

Within a few weeks, SecureApp streamlined the process by which SIX manages applications, as well as diagnoses connectivity problems.  In the short time that SecureApp has been deployed, SIX's IT team reports that the majority of its application connectivity processes have been expedited.  For a more detailed account of the deployment, please read the SIX case study.

"We are very fortunate to have found such a great design partner in the SIX security team - their contributions were essential to the development of SecureApp," said Reuven Harrison, CTO, Tufin.  "They held us to a very high standard, and SecureApp is a better product because of it.  As enterprises continue to become increasingly application-centric, SecureApp will help security, applications and operations teams and to remain agile, efficient, and able to adjust to changing business and IT requirements."
