Largest Utility Provider in the Metro Phoenix Area Implements SecureTrack, to Coordinate Changes, Streamline Business Processes and Shorten Audit Cycles.

Tufin Technologies, the leading provider of Security Lifecycle Management solutions today announced the addition of Salt River Project, the largest provider of power and water in the metro Phoenix area as a recent addition to its customer roster. Using SecureTrack to implement standard processes for monitoring and managing firewall policy changes, SRP has been able to cut the time it spends on firewall operations in half, enabling it to more cost effectively and efficiently maintain highly available, redundant, secure access to the core systems fundamental to its success.

"As a utilities provider, we are concerned about making changes that might result in or any sort of service disruption and we typically don't buy or try new things unless we are SURE that it works," said Tim Weid, Senior Network Analyst, Salt River Project. "We recognized quickly that SecureTrack could make our daily security operations work much easier. Working with a smaller, crisper rule base is less taxing on both the team and the firewalls themselves."

"SecureTrack has been a smart investment for us. I would estimate that we have reduced the time we spend on firewall maintenance, reporting clean up and auditing by 50 to 60 percent. Its greater value is in the actual simplicity of using the product, and the ease at which it track changes - by use, by rule, and by policy," adds James Heyen, Enterprise Security Architect, Salt River Project.

SRP's mission is to deliver ever-improving contributions to the people it serves through the provision of low cost, reliable water, power, and community programs to ensure the vitality of the Salt River Valley. In order to implement the process and technology controls needed to manage network security operations while maintaining secure, access to business critical applications over an expanding network infrastructure, SRP needed a standardized framework for managing firewall policy changes.

SRP had three objectives for implementing a firewall management solution: coordinate firewall policy changes, streamline business processes, and shorten audit cycles. Tufin's SecureTrack was the only solution SRP evaluated that was able to meet its requirements. Within a few hours of deploying SecureTrack, SRP began to receive useful change reports that gave them much needed visibility into the state and nature of existing firewall policies. It also provided them with reports on the effectiveness of existing rules and identifying questionable, obsolete, or conflicting policies, providing SRP with the visibility the needed to create standard procedures and controls essential for meeting its standardization criteria.

"We're delighted to add Salt River Project to our customer roster, and are impressed with how well they have leveraged what SecureTrack has to offer," said Ruvi Kitov, CEO, Tufin Technologies. "Our customers tell us one of the best things about our solutions are that they deliver hard, quantifiable ROI. Knowing that one of the "softer" benefits is that audits are no longer painful, drawn out, stressful affairs is just as satisfying to us as it is to our customers."
