Why do hackers love healthcare? What’s the prescription for secure healthcare networks?  

Consider the case that was a hot topic at this year’s RSA Conference on cybersecurity: Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Hollywood, California. Healthcare facilities and medical data are an increasingly popular target for ransomware. And the FBI has warned that these attacks are surging, raising concerns about this alarming ransomware epidemic. In fact, soon after the Hollywood Hospital incident, the pace of cyberattack on healthcare networks appears to have increased dramatically—with recent targets in Florida, Southern California, Kentucky, a 10-hospital system in the Washington, DC-area, as well as facilities in Canada and other countries.
